History

Govt. Polytechnic, Ranchi is one of the premier technical institutions in the state with a good repute. The institute is situated at a distance of 1.5 km from Ranchi Junction on National Highway- 20 towards north. It started in year 1935 as a Technical training Institute, Ranchi and later as Ranchi School of Engineering before any Institute of Engineering and Technology was established in the region. It is an oldest diploma institute in Jharkhand marking its presence in year 1954 first time with civil engineering with an intake of 120 students.

Recognition

Govt. Polytechnic, Ranchi is affiliated with the Jharkhand State Board of Technical Education (JSBTE), Ranchi and approved by All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi (AICTE) and the Department of Technical Education, Govt. of Jharkhand (DTE).
