Grace Bay Resorts develops and operates luxury resorts and villa rental properties in the Turks and Caicos Islands. It is the parent company of the Grace Bay Club, the West Bay Club resort, and a villa rental home division which includes micro-resort developments The Residences and The Dunes. The company employs 450 individuals with annual revenue targets in excess of $50 million.[1]

History[edit]

Grace Bay Resorts is a boutique developer and operator of high-end, luxury resorts and branded freestanding private beachfront villas, founded from its flagship property Grace Bay Club which opened in 1993. In 2009, Grace Bay Resorts was tapped to manage Turks and Caicos Islands property The Veranda, the island’s first fully inclusive luxury resort, which after 3 years was profitably sold by its owner.[2] The brand continued to grow, and in 2013 assumed operational responsibility and took an ownership stake in the management of West Bay Club.[3]

The brand began development of The Residences, a micro-resort of 3 freestanding private beachfront villas located approximately 7 minutes down the world-renowned Grace Bay Beach from Grace Bay Club in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands. The Residences were the first in a growing number of villas that form the brand’s luxury freestanding private beachfront villa rental division. Grace Bay Resorts has announced intentions to manage 10 freestanding private beachfront villas within micro-resort enclaves, with 5 villas participating as of October 2015.[4]

Grace Bay Resorts provides development, branding and operations management expertise for luxury boutique hotels and branded residences. The company has approximately $323 million of assets under its management: Grace Bay Club ($250 million);[5][6] West Bay Club ($50 million);[7] The Residences ($15 million);[8] and The Dunes ($8 million).[9]

Properties and Locations[edit]

Grace Bay Club[edit]

Grace Bay Club is a luxury resort situated on 11 acres in the heart of Grace Bay Beach, with 1,100 ft of uninterrupted frontage. The property comprises three distinct areas: The Hotel, The Villas Suites and The Estate.

  • The Hotel provides the resort’s adults-only accommodations, and was the original resort at Grace Bay Club opened in 1993.
  • The Villas Suites mark the second phase of the resort’s growth and brought spacious, family-friendly suites and third-party ownership to the property when completed in 2006.
  • The Estate offers beachfront living, including custom-designed suites, which further redefine luxury at Grace Bay Club. This section includes amenities, including a swimming pool, exclusively for the use of Estate guests and was completed in 2009[24]

In early 2014 the resort began a multi-year redesign plan for all suites and public spaces in partnership with Thom Filicia.,[25] elements of which have received awards[26] and critical acclaim from publications such as Architectural Digest[27] and Condé Nast Traveler.[28] November 2014 Grace Bay Club also introduced a new signature restaurant, Infiniti Restaurant & Raw Bar, replacing its predecessor Anacaona restaurant.[29]

The resort also offers dining options Grill Rouge, Krave Restaurant and an annually reinvented pop-up restaurant (currently Kone).[30]

West Bay Club[edit]

West Bay Club is a luxury boutique property that came under Grace Bay Resorts’ management in 2013. Its location along the quieter west end of award-winning Grace Bay Beach places it upon the shores of that beach’s widest section. It is also located along Princess Alexandra National Park, between two walk-out coral reefs just to the east and west sides of the property—Coral Gardens and Smith’s Reef.[31]

The Private Villa Collection[edit]

Grace Bay Resorts’ newest division represents a distinct offering of freestanding private beachfront villas managed by the brand to bridge the gap for guests seeking both the comforts of a private home and ultra-luxury resort amenities. The collection currently includes villas from two distinct development projects: The Residences and The Dunes.[32]

The Residences[edit]

The Residences are a gated micro-resort of three villas that offer the comforts of a private home with the services of a five-star resort. The project, which is the cornerstone of the company’s new freestanding private beachfront villa division, was co-founded by Mark Durliat, Nikheel Advani, and Michael Brewster.[33]

The Dunes[edit]

The Dunes was designed to balance environmental responsibility with contemporary design. This two-villa development offers managed, branded, five-star luxury resort services by Grace Bay Resorts. The Dunes overlooks Smith’s Reef on a relatively secluded stretch at the far end of Grace Bay Beach. Service at this property is identical to others in The Private Villa Collection.[34]
