The Hellenic Boxing Federation was founded in 1951 in Athens by sports clubs that maintained boxing classes. The E.O.P. at European level belongs to the European Amateur Boxing Association (Amateur International Boxing Association and European Amateur Boxing Association) while at international level it is a member of the World Amateur Boxing Federation. Under the responsibility of the Hellenic Boxing Federation, all the national championships are held as well as the formation of the National Greece team.

The following are considered top Greek boxers: Christina Linardatou, Michael Katsidis, Mike Arnaoutis, Anton Christoforidis, Georgios Stefanopoulos, Evangelos Goussis and George Kambosos Jr.

(It should be noted that many of those mentioned are of Greek origin and are professional Greek boxers).

27 Greek amateur boxers have also participated in the Summer Olympic Games.
