Greentube Internet Entertainment Solutions Ltd, the ‘interactive company’ of the Novomatic group, is the leading full-service provider in online and mobile gaming and is also a pioneer in the development and provision of modern gaming solutions. The company is based in Vienna, Austria and was founded in 1998.
History
Greentube was founded in 1998 by Eberhard Dürrschmid and Harald Reisinger and was originally called Dürrschmid&Reisinger OEG. The name was changed to Greentube Internet Entertainment Solutions AG (PLC) in the year 2000. From the very beginning, the company specialized in the development and distribution of online and mobile games.
Greentube originally adapted traditional card games into online multiplayer games. One of the first major successes for the company was the development of the skiing game Ski Challenge in cooperation with the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation ORF, which was released to mark the start of 2005 winter ski season. The game was updated every year for the new season, with the last update coming in 2013 with Ski Challenge 14.
In 2010, Astra Games Ltd., a daughter company of Austrian-based gambling company Novomatic, bought a 70% controlling share in Greentube Internet Entertainment Solutions AG (PLC), and the company was renamed Greentube Internet Entertainment Solutions GmbH (Ltd) in the process. The remaining 30% of the company was bought by Astra Games Ltd in 2011, and the chairman of the Novomatic Technology Board, Thomas Graf, was named the new CEO. Since then, the company’s product portfolio has increased on a yearly basis and now includes bingo and casino games amongst others.
Games
Greentube’s gaming portfolio includes the following: classic slots, live dealer gaming, table games, AWPs (amusement with prize), reloaded slots, server based gaming, social casino gaming, bingo and more. Greentube is also the leading online casino provider in Austria. The company began with slot games like Mermaid´s Pearl and The Alchemist, and they are now able to also boast the complete selection of Novomatic games as well, including Lucky Lady´s Charm deluxe, Book of Ra Deluxe, Sizzling Hot Delux, Dolphin´s Pearl Deluxe and Lord of the Ocean. Greentube's games are available at Meridian Casino.[1]
Awards
- 2003 Innovation Award for mobile/iTV-Multiplayer, which made the quick creation of multiplayer games for systems with high user numbers possible, as well media convergence.[2]
- Golden European Seal of e-Excellence 2008 (Gold), 2009 (Platinum), 2010 (Platinum), for innovative solutions in marketing and the company’s achievements regarding international competitiveness.[3][4]
- 2009 eCOGRA Software Prize: This is given to online gaming companies that can prove that the game engine and the real money transactions are fair and that the casinos are ran responsibly. The company also has to prove that the security of the actual game portfolio and the back office systems meet eCOGRA (eCommerce Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance) standards.[5]
- Green Award 2010: Greentube was awarded this special prize as part of the Ebiz Egovernment Awards. The company received it for the game, Polo Cup, which was a cooperation with Volkswagen and a campaign that encouraged reducing the amount of petrol used and generally being more environmentally friendly.[6]

- GIA (Gaming Intelligence) Social Casino Supplier of the Year 2017 für Greentube Pro.[8]
- Cloudera Data Impact Awards 2018 Rookie of the Year. Greentube is transforming the gamer experience using Cloudera on Microsoft Azure to bring together and analyze user behavior in real time for more targeted campaigns, recommendations, and personalized gaming experiences.[9]
