Greg Drust
Early Life
Greg Drust was born on October 16th, 1954, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to a family who encouraged his love of music from the beginning. He began collecting records and attending live performances at a young age, and considered records his toys as a child. [1] He attended the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) where he majored in Communication studies. He lost his sight in a head-on collision in 1973 while on the way to his alma mater.
Career
Drust began his career in radio broadcast in 1973 on the UCSB station KCSB-FM, and has been on air continuously until the present. In addition to curating music for his shows, his shows included interviews with industry professionals. In 1977, Drust co-founded the Santa Barbara Blues Society along with Laszlo Kiraly. It still exists today, and is the longest running blues society in the United States.
In 1987, Drust was included in the Local Heros Honor Roll by the Santa Barbara Independent.
