Greg Hutson (born July 24, 1979),[1][3] better known by his ring name Greg Hamilton, is an American professional wrestling ring announcer and television host currently working for WWE as the ring announcer for SmackDown, 205 Live and pay-per-view events. Prior to signing with WWE, Hutson worked as an event and entertainment host for organizations such as CBS, FOX and NBC.[4]

Career[edit]

Event and entertainment hosting (2001-2015)[edit]

Hutson graduated from Hamilton High School 1997.[1] His career in hosting began in 2001 after finding an online job listing to be a host for Carnival cruise line.[5] He remained with Carnival for five year, becoming cruise director at 24. It was while in this position that a San Antonio television producer approached him about guest hosting on “Great Day S.A.” A month later, Hutson was invited to audition to take over the hosting position on a permanent basis. He was successful and went on to co-host with Kristina Guerrero, now of “E! News.” During this time he also hosted a weekly segment at Fox35 in Orlando called “Hot in Hollywood,” reporting on entertainment news

After over a year with Great Day S.A., Hutson became host of American Idol Experience, a live stage-show version of the Fox show “American Idol” at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.[5] While in Orlando, he also performed in-arena hosting for the NBA’s Orlando Magic.[6] Prior to joining WWE, Hutson also hosted annual events with the Miss America organization.[6]

WWE (2015-present)[edit]

Hutson signed with WWE in January 2015. He auditioned for the ring announcer position in September, 2014 and was made aware that he had been successful in December. He took the ring name "Hamilton" in honor of his hometown.

Hamilton's first role was as the exclusive host at NXT Live Events. He soon became NXT ring announcer. He debuted on SmackDown in 2016 and has since become the lead ring announcer for the brand. He also performs ring announcing duties on 205 Live and for WWE pay per view events.
