Gregory G. Dell'Omo, Ph.D. is the seventh president of Rider University.[1] He assumed office on August 1, 2015, succeeding Mordechai Rozanski. [2]

Biography[edit]

Dell’Omo received a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Montclair State University, a Master of Science in industrial relations from Rutgers University and a Ph.D. in industrial relations/human resource management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.[3]

Dell’Omo began his academic career at Canisius College as an assistant professor. He then joined St. Joseph’s University where he was a professor of management and also held a sequence of academic and administrative leadership positions, including Dean of the Haub School of Business, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and Vice President for External Affairs. Prior to assuming presidency at Rider, Dell’Omo served for ten years as the seventh president of Robert Morris University.[4] At Robert Morris, full-time undergraduate enrollment at the 5,400-student school grew by 35% and the number of students living on campus grew from 1,140 to 1,990. The university completed a five-year strategic plan and capital campaign. The fund drive, finished in 2012, raised $41 million, surpassing its goal and funding structures housing the School of Business and the Wheatley Center, site of the School of Communications and Information Systems. [5]

Under his leadership, in 2017, Rider launched “Our Path Forward[6]”, a comprehensive multi-year strategic plan for the university that focused on five themes: “Focusing on Students First,” “Raising Rider’s Profile,” “Being an Employer of Choice,” “Investing in Our Future,” and “Always Improving.” Soon after, the University launched its Engaged Learning Program[7], a pillar of the strategic plan that encompasses student experience through hands-on learning.

Also in 2017, Rider launched its first doctoral program, Educational Leadership[8]. Dell’Omo oversaw the relocation of Westminster Choir College of Rider University from its Princeton campus to Rider’s main campus in Lawrenceville. Fall 2020, marked the first time the two institutions were truly integrated since their original merger in 1992. [9][10]

In 2020, Rider launched its “Lifting Barriers” initiative.[11] Under this initiative, Rider dropped its base undergraduate tuition price by $10,000 and instituted additional support for career preparation and academic success. Lifting Barriers “is designed to help students break through significant obstacles they face in obtaining a college education and a successful career, including understanding the true cost of college and the ability to adapt, both socially and academically, in a college environment and beyond.”[12]

In 2020, Dell’Omo’s Presidency was extended through 2024.[13]

In 2021, Dell’Omo was elected to the board of directors of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU). He will represent the region that includes New Jersey, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland and New York.[14]
