Griffin Guess
Griffin Guess (born September 8, 1979, in San Diego, California) is an American entrepreneur, music producer, tv producer and talent manager. He owns Cartel Records Inc, founded and sold Titans of Mavericks and is married to model Marisa Miller.[1]
Career[edit]
In 1998, Guess founded Machete, a creative services company that produced marketing, film and music videos.[2] In 2001 Guess merged his company into Liberty Media, and joined Ascent Media as SVP of Commercial // Music Video in 2002.[3] Guess became executive producer and creative director for the media conglomerate in 2005.
In 2007, Guess founded Cartel Management Inc, a boutique management company representing entertainers, athletes and musicians. Later, Guess formed Cartel Records, an independent label which distributes nationally through iTunes, and with Alliance Distribution for Best Buy and Target, Wal-mart.[2] Guess executive produced all marketing and album campaigns for Kanye West including titles The College Dropout, Late Registration and Graduation from 2005 to 2010.[citation needed] Guess and West co-executive produced Composing History,[4] a television speical for MTV in 2005. Guess produced albums for America's Got Talent season two runner-up Cas Haley's self-titled debut album Cas Haley[2], Really Doe's First Impressions album with Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music label[citation needed] and breakthrough hip hop artist Josh Baze's album "High-heels & Low-Lifes" in March 2012.[5] Guess produced Josh Baze's second record "Colour Blind" which was released on June 10, 2014.[6]
In 2014 Guess acquired Mavericks[7] and created Titans of Mavericks, a big wave surfing action sports event that takes place south of San Francisco, in Northern California.[8] In 2016, Titans of Mavericks set digital user-ship records for Redbull Media House through online streaming and received over 1 billion earned media impressions surrounding the 2016 event.[citation needed] Guess produced Titans of Mavericks TV Special in which aired on FOX on May 29, 2016. On August 24, 2017, Titans of Mavericks sold to the World Surf League. [10]

Guess married Marisa Miller on April 15, 2006.[11]
