Katfyr (pronounced “cat-fire”) is an American electronic dance music record producer and DJ, who has been active since 2008 and is best known for very well-received dubstep remixes of EDM and Top 40 hits.[4][5] Some of his remixes include the dubstep remix of Katy Perry's "E.T.", Psy's "Gangnam Style", Emma Hewitt's "Rewind" and Celldweller's "Down to Earth" among others.[4][6][7]
As a producer, Katfyr's biggest accomplishments have been to be nominated and awarded as an official remixer of Emma Hewitt's "Rewind" and "Foolish Boy" under the Dutch record label Armada Music.[8][9][10] In addition, Katfyr's original song, "Lose Control" featuring Maruja Retana, was able to reach the 1st position in the Beatport Top 100 dubstep charts for May 2014.[11][12][13] Katfyr has released various singles in multiple major record labels in the EDM industry, such as Armada Music, UKF Music, and Hypnotic Records.[14][15][16][17] In addition, he has collaborated multiple times with Klayton in the Celldweller project, and releasing on one of the best known Industrial record labels FiXT Music.[18]
In 2014, Katfyr was part of NAMM convention as he worked with Presonus Audio Electronics' PreSonus Studio One, and was gracious enough to give precise details on his advanced production techniques.[19]
In 2015, Katfyr appears to be present in an interview under the alias of Neko, along with DJ Heavygrinder, but this interview, published by Indiepower TV has not been confirmed.[original research?][20][21] If this information was to be confirmed, additional musical releases could be attributed to Katfyr,[improper synthesis?] including the releases "Break Free" featuring Jon Howard,[22] the original Heavygrinder EP "Setsuna",[23] and the Heavygrinder remix of Slayer's "You Against You" [24]
