Grizzly Run is a river rapids ride located at the currently operating Six Flags Darien Lake in Darien, New York and the now-defunct Geauga Lake in Aurora, Ohio.

History

Six Flags Darien Lake

Grizzly Run opened at Six Flags Darien Lake on June 10, 1989.[1]

Geauga Lake

After Funtime Parks was acquired by Premier Parks in 1995, Geauga Lake spent $9 million adding new rides for the 1996 season. These rides included a Vekoma Boomerang named Mind Eraser (also known as Head Spin) and an Intamin river rapids ride named Grizzly Run.[2]

Both Grizzly Run and Mind Eraser officially opened on May 10, 1996.

In 2004, Geauga Lake was sold to Cedar Fair, which caused some of the rides to be renamed, including Mind Eraser.[3] However, Grizzly Run remained in its original format.

Grizzly Run operated for the last time on September 16, 2007, along with Geauga Lake. Five days later, Cedar Fair publicly announced the park's closure on September 16, 2007.[4] The property became solely a waterpark, Wildwater Kingdom.
