Groyper
The groyper is a term that refers to a group of far-right and alt-right nationalists and conservatives critical of the mainstream conservatism[1] and led by political commentator Nick Fuentes.[2]
"Groper" is derived from the name of a cartoon frog image which is associated with overt racism, and is derived from the Pepe the Frog meme.[1]
The Groyper movement, also known as the Dissident Right movement, is a Paleoconservative, America First, Nationalist, and Traditionalist movement that also stresses Christian ethics. The movement is a divergent fraction of the right-wing that opposes both the core neo-Nazi/alt-right movements, and the mainstream of worldwide conservatism, especially Neoconservatism.
This movement gained prominence during October and November 2019, when Turning Point USA launched the 'Culture War' college tour of speaking events with appearances from many conservatives such as Charlie Kirk, Ben Shapiro, Rob Smith, Dan Crenshaw and Kimberly Guilfoyle. These events were frequently targeted by the dissident right who consider TPUSA to be too mainstream and not sufficiently conservative. Concerted efforts were made by this group, led by Nick Fuentes, to ask leading questions during the Q&A sections on controversial topics such as Israel and LGBTQ issues in order to challenge the extent of the speakers' views.
In 2020, the movement held a conference known as the "America First Political Action Conference", held as an alternative to the Conservative Political Action Conference.
