History[edit]

In English the name of the school translates to Hope Of The Nation.

On 18 May 2018, learners came to a standstill when they locked the gate and set alight a JoJo tank.[3] During that time there was no principal at the school due to allegations that the deputy principal misused the school funds.

Demographics[edit]

The ethnic makeup of the school is mostly Black students due to the townships population. It has a student enrollment which is above 1000, and staff members above 43 teachers[4]

Athletics[edit]

The school participates in events like Football (boys), Netball (girls). Trophies of the school can be seen when entering the reception of the administration office.

Extracurricular activities[edit]

These activities include debate[5][6], choir.

After-school activities[edit]

Learners can participate in activities such as sports, Test preparation, etc.

Matric students often engage on programs such as the Matric Intervention Program (M.I.P) where they learn even on holidays. The program differs in terms of Seasons (e.g., M.I.P Winter, M.I.P Summer). They also learn on weekends to cover the content or gain extra time on revision. This act helps matriculants on getting higher achievements on their National Senior Certificates.

  • M.V. Shazi - is the third principal of the school.
  • Luyanda Khuzwayo - a 2020 matriculant, scored 7 "A"s.[7][8]
