Education and Career
Ghulam Rasool Dehlvi is an Alim and Fazil (a classical Islamic scholar), having graduated from one of the Islamic seminaries of India, Jamia Amjadia Rizvia (Mau, U.P.).[8] He is also a Doctoral Research Scholar at Center for Media & Governance, Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi.[8]
He was the recipient of the annual Hizmet Essay Prize for the 2015 annual contest organized by the Rumi Forum in collaboration with the Hizmet Studies review.[9]
Views
He views Ibn Taymiyyah as the propounder of a "complete Islamic theology of radicalism, religious exclusivism, violent extremism, and puritanical fundamentalism."[10] According to Dehlvi, the fatwa issued by some Indian clerics served as fuel to the fire to the already ongoing Hijrat movement of 1920, as some scholars considered India as Darul Harab and called for the movement (Hijrat) to Dar-us-Salam (land of peace).[11]
