Gunnar Edvin Svendsen (9 October 1915 – 11 January 1984) was a Norwegian sport shooter. He was born in Fredrikstad. He competed at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, and at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki.[1]
By winning the national title in pistol shooting in 1952, he was also awarded the Kongepokal trophy.[2][3][4]
Background
During the German occupation of Norway Svendsen was a police officer in Oslo. He was arrested during a crackdown on the police (Norwegian: politiaksjonen) in August 1943, and was incarcerated at the Grini detention camp for five months, until January 1944.[5][6]
