History

During vanavasa, when Lord Ram and Lakshman went out in search of Mata Sita, they visited the banks of River Narmada. When Lord Ram wanted to meet Jabali Rishi, he came to the banks of River Narmada in Jabalpur. During this time, he had worshiped Lord Mahadev. He constructed a shivalinga using sand, who is now known as Gupteshwar Mahadev.[4][1][3]
