Guyana Americas Merchant Bank Inc. (simply referred to as Guyana Americas Merchant Bank) is a private financial institution headquartered in Georgetown, Guyana. It was the first merchant bank to be established in Guyana and was founded on May 22, 1995 in Guyana as Guyana Finance Corporation Ltd. In 1998, the company changed its name to Guyana Americas Merchant Bank Inc. and its early expansion was supported by investments from the International Finance Corporation[1] of the World Bank Group. Its shareholders are Secure International Finance Company Inc. and Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry Ltd. Guyana Americas Merchant Bank provides a suite of financial services to its institutional and individual clients, including investment banking, investment management, and securities brokerage services. As part of its securities brokerage services, it acts as a broker on the Guyana Stock Exchange[2] and provides access to securities listed on other Caribbean and International stock exchanges. It also provides advisory services to pension funds, mutual funds, and other funds.
According to its mission statement, its mission is 'To contribute to the economic advancement of Guyana, acting as a catalyst for financial sector expansion through the provision of high quality and creative Merchant Banking Services to domestic corporations and institutions, both public and private, and to foreign investors, utilizing the dynamism and innovative skills of a highly professional staff dedicated to the needs of our clients and drawing on our extensive network or international relationships.'
Guyana Americas Merchant Bank is licensed by the Bank of Guyana and the Guyana Securities Council.
