Guys (Podcast)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Guys: A Podcast About Guys (also referred to as Guys) is a comedy podcast hosted by comedians Bryan Quinby and Chris James. Each episode focuses on a particular type of "guy" (used as a stand-in for those interested specific hobby or subculture), ranging from common interests to the highly specific and niche subcultures. The podcast claims to investigate "the weirdest, dumbest, and silliest guys on the internet."[1]

History and content

Guys is hosted by Bryan Quinby and Chris James. Quinby is a left-wing internet personality from Columbus, Ohio and former co-host of the Street Fight Radio podcast and radio show.[2][3] James is a comedian from Vancouver, Canada and the former host of weekly prank call compilation show Not Even A Show that aired on YouTube, Twitch, and MeansTV.[4][5] James also was a regular guest contributor to Street Fight Radio as part of the semiannual "Shocktober" series, featuring episodic analysis and 'deep dive' reviews of shock jocks radio personalities such as the Greaseman or Bubba the Love Sponge.[6] Even after the end of Street Fight Radio, 'Shocktober' episodes remain accessible via Guys podcast.[7]

The first episode of Guys was released on February 14, 2019 with more than 155 episodes released as of February 2026.[8] Episodes are released approximately biweekly and last about 90 minutes each.

After a brief introduction of the week's guest or guests and the topic to be discussed, each episode explores a different hobby or subculture of "guy" (for example, 'Knife Guys' or 'Warhammer Guys').[9][10] While some of the "guys" in question are practitioners of a given hobby or interest, others are communities of devoted fans of a given activity. Quinby draws on hobbyists' online interactions as primary source material, frequently quoting topical posts on Reddit or Quora or product reviews, to which James and the guests on the show react for comedic effect.[11] The podcast is free for listeners via sites such as Libsyn and Spotify and does not include paid advertisements, Guys is crowdfunded through monthly contributions from listeners' support on Patreon.[12] Patreon supporters also receive additional content such as video streams and some bonus episodes.

Notable guests who have appeared on the podcast include actor and comedian Tim Heidecker,[13] actor Zach Cherry,[14] author Rax King,[15] comedian Tom Scharpling,[16] cartoonist Mattie Lubchansky,[17] author David Roth,[18] and the co-hosts of the Chapo Trap House podcast.[19]

Both co-hosts are well known online for their political commentary. For example, James is known for prank calls against largely right-wing figures, such as broadcaster Alex Jones, who threatened legal action against James prank called him as part of Not Even A Show.[20] As a part of the Street Fight Radio duo, Quinby has been cited as one of the first examples of the 'dirtbag left'.[21][22] However, Guys explicitly tries to avoid politics or political topics.[23] Guys generally approaches its subjects from a friendly, but mocking perspective.

Reception

In December 2025, Guys was named one of "The 20 Best Podcasts in 2025" by Esquire.[24] In his review, Brendan Menapace wrote, "There are so many types of guys... It’s like a post-internet culture David Attenborough documentary."[25]

As of July 2024, Guys earned over $16,000 per month from over 3,800 supporters.[26]
