Halil Ercüment Erdem
Halil Ercüment Erdem (born October 26, 1961, İzmir, Turkey) is a Turkish academician, a professor of commercial law, an international arbitrator and a lawyer.

Biography[edit]
Erdem's academic life began at Istanbul University Faculty of Law in 1980 after graduating from Galatasaray High School. Having completed his undergraduate education at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Law in 1984, Erdem received his master's degree in private law from Ankara University Social Sciences Institute in 1986. Erdem, completed his doctorate at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland in 1990 with a magna cum laude degree. He became Associate Professor of Commercial Law in 1997 and then Professor of Commercial Law in 2003.[1]
He still conducts research on international business law, competition law, mergers and acquisitions, corporate law and continues his lectures at Galatasaray University and University of Fribourg in Switzerland.[2][3]
Erdem has also been serving as the Head of the Commercial Law and Practices Commission of the International Chamber of Commerce since 2019.[4]
Arbitration Career[edit]
Erdem, eventually distinguished in arbitration field by acting as chairman and sole or party-appointed arbitrator in various international and national arbitrations ruled under different frames including ICC Arbitration, UNCITRAL Arbitration, Swiss, Moscow and Tehran Arbitrations, and ad hoc arbitrations.[5][6]
He is a member of ICC Arbitration Commission[4], ICC International Court of Arbitration[7], ICC Institute Council[8], ICC Turkish National Committee Arbitration Council, Association Suisse de l’Arbitrage[9], IBA and Istanbul Bar Association. Erdem also is an advisory board member of Istanbul Arbitration Centre (ISTAC)[10]
