Hallie Shoffner
Hallie Shoffner (born c. 1988) is an American farmer, business executive, and politician from Jackson County, Arkansas. She is the Democratic nominee for the United States Senate in the 2026 election in Arkansas, challenging incumbent Republican Senator Tom Cotton.[1][2][3]
Early life and education
Shoffner is a sixth-generation Arkansas farmer.[4] She grew up in the small Arkansas Delta farming community of Shoffner, named after her ancestors.[4] She graduated from Newport High School, earned a bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University, and a Master of Public Service from the Clinton School of Public Service. She is fluent in Spanish.[5]
Career
Shoffner ran her family farm for nearly a decade starting in 2016, managing a 2,000-acre farming operation producing rice, soybeans, corn, and wheat.[4][1] She founded the Delta Harvest Food Hub, which offers farm research, processing, and marketing services to agricultural producers in the Delta region.[6][7]
In 2025, Shoffner and her family sold the farm and auctioned its equipment, citing low commodity prices, high input costs, tariffs, and federal policies that made profitability difficult.[4][1]
2026 U.S. Senate campaign
Shoffner formally launched her candidacy for the U.S. Senate on July 15, 2025, challenging two-term incumbent Republican Senator Tom Cotton.[1] Her campaign platform centers on the Farm Bill and health care costs.[8][5]
The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette endorsed Shoffner in the Democratic primary.[5] She won the Democratic nomination on March 3, 2026, defeating Lewisville mayor Ethan Dunbar.[3]
