Susan Gorin is an American politician. She serves as a member of the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors representing Supervisorial District 1, which includes eastern portions of the city of Santa Rosa, the city of Sonoma, and unincorporated communities of the Sonoma Valley.[1]
Early life and education[edit]
Gorin was born in Massachusetts and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She moved to Sonoma County in 1982.[2]
She attended Santa Rosa Junior College and received a B.A. in Political Science & Economics from Sonoma State University in 1991, graduating cum laude.[2]
Career[edit]
Gorin won election to the Santa Rosa City Schools Board of Trustees in 1996,[3] later serving the City of Santa Rosa on the Board of Public Utilities (2002-2004) and Planning Commission (2004-2006).[2] Gorin was elected to the Santa Rosa City Council in 2006.[4]
Gorin was first elected to the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors in 2012, defeating fellow Santa Rosa city council member John Sawyer.[5]
Upon Gorin's reelection to a second term in 2016, along with the reelection of Shirlee Zane and election of Lynda Hopkins, a female majority was formed on the board for the first time.[6]
She defeated Sonoma city councilman David Cook in March 2020 for reelection to a third term.
