Ham Radio Friedrichshafen (fair)
The Ham Radio Friedrichshafen is one of the largest amateur radio hamfests, (convention) that takes place annually in Friedrichshafen.
History[edit]
After the exhibition was held on the old exhibition center in Friedrichshafen from 1976 to 2001, it has been taking place once a year on the grounds of the Neue Messe Friedrichshafen since 2002 (usually on a summer weekend from Friday to Sunday). With around 15,000 to 20,000 visitors, it is one of the largest amateur radio fairs in the world.[1] Almost 200 professional exhibitors and more than 30 amateur radio associations from all over the world use this convention for presentations. The 45th edition planned for June 2020 had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[2]
Fair[edit]
The fair gives all visitors, including Radio Amateurs and electronics enthusiasts, the opportunity to find out about the latest electronics and radio technology and to purchase radio equipment, measuring devices and accessories such as antennas or tools.
In addition, it offers the global community of radio amateurs a meeting point for exchanging experiences and opinions. Also the worldwide networked amateur radio associations, such as the German Amateur Radio Club (DARC), the American Radio Relay League (ARRL,) the Austrian Experimental Transmitter Association (ÖVSV), the Union of Swiss Shortwave Amateurs (USKA) or the Italian Radio Amateurs (ARI), which are together organized in the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU), offers their platforms here.
Flea Market[edit]
The accompanying flea market is considered the "largest radio flea market in Europe",and offers visitors from more than 60 countries the opportunity to purchase unusual objects for their hobby. Used equipment, Two-way radios, components, books and other utensils for amateur radio are available for purchase here.[3]
