Hamza Asif Khan is a Pakistani politician affiliated with the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) (JUI-F). He currently serves as the Tehsil Chairman of Shabqadar, a position he assumed following the 2021 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local elections. His leadership is associated with municipal-level governance in Charsadda District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Political career
Hamza Asif Khan contested the 2021 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local government elections as the JUI-F candidate for the position of Tehsil Chairman of Shabqadar Tehsil. He won the election by securing 33,244 votes, defeating his nearest rival, Shahid Ullah Khan of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who secured approximately 14,616 votes.[1][2]
His victory contributed to JUI-F’s broader success across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in that election cycle.[3][4]
Governance and activism
As Tehsil Chairman, Hamza Asif Khan is responsible for local governance, development initiatives, and municipal administration within Shabqadar Tehsil. The tehsil comprises 12 union councils and serves a population of approximately 440,000 residents.[5]
In November 2022, Hamza Asif Khan joined other elected chairmen from Charsadda and Tangi in a protest outside the office of the Deputy Commissioner. The demonstration called for the provincial government to release funds and grant administrative powers to local bodies in accordance with devolution mandates.[6]
