Hamza Bouazzaoui (2002 – 26 October 2021) was a Moroccan runner.[1]

Personal[edit]

Bouazzaoui was born in Berkane on 26 October 2021, like the double Olympic champion in Athens Hicham El Guerrouj, world record holder of 1,500 meters, and had an intellectual disability.[2] He continued in 2007 to reside in the city of his birth.

In 2008 the San Adrián Athletics Club emerged and the young man did not hesitate to become part of this family with whom he continued training week after week. “From childhood he beat us all. He always ran with a big smile. He enjoyed and transmitted his joy”.[3]

He studied in San Adrián, where he finished high school.[4]

Bouazzaoui was the current Navarrese under-20 athletics cross champion after winning in Alsasua, a title for which he had fought since he was little.[5][6]

His death from being hit by a car was announced on October 26, 2021. He was 19 years old.[7][8]
