Hannah Gutierrez-Reed
Hannah Gutierrez-Reed is an American film armorer. She was the lead armorer on two Western films: The Old Way (2023) and the upcoming film Rust. Gutierrez-Reed was sentenced to 18 months in prison in April 2024 for manslaughter for her role in the 2021 shooting incident on the set of Rust.[1][2]
Career[edit]
Gutierrez-Reed was the lead armorer on the set of the film The Old Way, which was filmed in 2021. She worked with actor Nicolas Cage, who stormed off the set after a gun in Gutierrez-Reed's care went off near the crew for the second day in a row, yelling, "Make an announcement, you just blew my fucking eardrums out!"[3] At that time key grip Stu Brumbaugh encouraged the assistant director to let Gutierrez-Reed go.[3]
Two months after filming wrapped on The Old Way, Gutierrez-Reed was the armorer on Rust, which resulted in the shooting incident for which she was sentenced to 18 months in jail for involuntary manslaughter.

Gutierrez-Reed is the stepdaughter of armorer Thell Reed.[4]
