Hannelore Veit

Hannelore Veit (born 9 June 1957 in Vienna) is an Austrian journalist and former television presenter.
After completing her studies at the University of Notre Dame with a “Master of Arts”, Hannelore Veit returned to Vienna, where she obtained a master's degree in philosophy. She then worked as a translator, interpreter and freelance journalist.
From 1985 to 1989 she worked as a radio correspondent for the East Europe office of “Voice of America” in Vienna. Later she was Japan correspondent for the "European Business Channel". She has been working for ORF since 1989, first working for ORF radio in Tokyo and then as a freelancer for ORF television.
From the beginning of 2013 until the end of 2020, Veit was the bureau chief of the ORF's correspondent office in Washington D.C. (USA). She now works as a freelance journalist, producer and media consultant in Vienna, Austria. She also serves as President of the Alumni Association of the University of Vienna.
