Hans J. Reimers (born October 9, 1964 in Memmingen) is a German martial arts master of Wing Tsung and Escrima. He is dai-sifu (Grandmaster) of Wing Tsung of the „World Martial Arts Alliance“ and Master of Latosa-Escrima.
Life[edit]
Reimers began to study Taekwondo at the age of 11. In the 1980s he had his first experience with Chinese martial arts and especially with Wing Chun. He studied also in Hongkong with Dr. Leung Ting, who claims to be the last master-student of Ip Man. At the same time he studied economics in Munich, Bavaria and received a master's degree. 1989 he opened his first martial arts school in Munich and began to work as a professional martial arts teacher.[1]
In 2002 he founded the World Martial Arts Alliance (WMAA).[2] Reimers chose the spelling of Wing Tsung to differentiate his teachings from those of other Wing Chun schools, and to keep them from passing off their style as his own. (There is no standard romanization of Cantonese; the Chinese characters remain the same.) Reimers' style of Wing Chun is taught in many countries; from Argentina to Sweden. His Wing Chun is also taught in the USA.[3]
He has also been teaching at the FBI,[4] the Turkish special forces and the German GSG 9.[5]
