Hans Rudolf Hermann Preusker (4 May 1865 – 12 April 1918) was an Imperial German Army officer and a recipient of the Pour le Mérite, the highest military order of merit of the Kingdom of Prussia, during World War I.
When World War I began Major Preusker, commanding a battalion of the 155th (7th West Prussian) Infantry Regiment, was involved in the destruction and sacking of the Russian Polish city of Kalisz. Still during the burning of the latter Preusker and his unit were transferred to the Western Front as part of the newly raised 10th Reserve Division. There they participated in numerous campaigns. On 27 July 1917, Oberstleutnant Preusker, by now commanding the regiment, was awarded the Pour le Merite for the fighting around Verdun in the months prior; having attacked, captured and defended Hill 304. Now promoted to Oberst, Preusker would continue to serve until Operation Michael during which he was mortally wounded on 30 March 1918. Sent to a hospital at Karlsruhe; Preusker died there from his wound on 12 April.
