Hanson Canada is a private sector education group registered with the Ministry of Education, Ontario since 2001, providing secondary, post-secondary, post-graduate and ESL programs to international students in Canada. Hanson offers certificates and diploma programs through Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario.[1]
History
Hanson Canada was founded in 2001 as Hanson International Academy, with the purpose of providing a high quality Canadian education to international students in Canada. The first campus was in Toronto, with two new campuses added in New Westminster, British Columbia and Brampton, Ontario thereafter.
In 2005, Hanson Canada entered into a partnership with Cambrian College of Applied Arts and Technology[2], one of the twenty four public colleges in Ontario, to create Cambrian at Hanson.[3] At the three campus locations in Toronto, Brampton and Vancouver, Hanson delivers Cambrian College programs exclusively to international students. Hanson Canada formed the first Public-Private partnership in post-secondary education in Ontario, an education model that was soon embraced by several other public institutions in Ontario and other parts of Canada. Hanson is also a registered Private Career College in both Ontario (registered with Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development, Ontario) and in British Columbia (registered with Private Training Institutions Branch, PTIB).[4]
Programs
Hanson Canada was the first institute of its kind in Ontario[5] and has over 2,000 full-time students and 8 full-time programs, a number of which are uniquely suited to the academic and employment aspirations of international students. The programs result in certificates and diplomas conferred by Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario. Programs range from General Business and Accounting to Hospitality Management, Human Resource Management and Travel and Tourism. Students have the advantage of studying these programs in the metropolitan areas of Toronto, Brampton and Vancouver.
Campuses
Brampton

Located next to Bramalea City Centre, Hanson Canada’s Brampton campus is right at the city’s economic core. This campus offers two college diploma programs including Hotel & Restaurant Management and Business, and several college Graduate Certificate programs, including Human Resource Management and Organization Management. This campus also has specialized information technology programs such as Cloud Computing and Mobile Application Development. Both the Tourism & Travel and Human Resource Management programs include opportunities for students to apply their skills in a real work setting during their final semester of study, which also provides a valuable opportunity for students to make crucial business connections.
Toronto

Hanson Canada’s Toronto-based campus, offering college programs since 2005, has the longest history of the three campus locations. Minutes away from major shopping centres the students at this campus have access to both business connections and all of the amenities that a metropolitan area can provide. Students attending Hanson Canada's Business Accounting program can be recognized and credited towards a Certified General Accountant’s designation should a student excel and choose to pursue further studies in this area. Successful completion of either of these programs culminates in a college diploma.
Vancouver

As the newest addition to the Hanson family of schools, the Vancouver-area campus was established in 2013 and is registered with the British Columbia education ministry as Hanson International Academy.[6] The two college diploma programs offered at this campus, General Business and Tourism & Travel, are registered with the Private Training Institutions Branch, PTIB of British Columbia.
High School
Hanson International Academy (HIA) is a Ministry of Ontario approved private high school located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
International
Hanson has been active in international education for more than a decade and now attracts more than 2000 international students each year. The student population is from several countries worldwide with large numbers from China, India, South Korea, Russia and Philippines and more recently from the Caribbean and Latin America. Hanson's English as a Second Language prepares international students for post-secondary study through intensive language training that can last anywhere from two months to more than a year.
Student life
The Hanson student council, campus clubs, and athletics offer students the chance to get involved in the wider community by planning and promoting events, participating in campus culture days, or going on trips for social service and community activities. These activities promote multiculturalism as well as educate international students about Canadian culture.
Cambrian College
Hanson Canada has grown to meet international students’ demand for Cambrian College programs by expanding its two southern Ontario campuses and adding a third campus in western Canada. Hanson offers Cambrian programs to international students in Brampton, Toronto, and Vancouver. The relationship between Hanson and Cambrian gives international students the opportunity to earn quality college credentials in a supportive environment at various campuses in Canada.
Cambrian’s main campus in Sudbury is home to approximately 4,500 full-time students, including 100 students from 20 countries.[7]
