Harari College Worldwide is an American, virtual, tuition-free college that offered the American Advanced Placement International Diploma and a diploma in the Humanities and Social Sciences for high school students. It was known for its emphasis on regional studies and literature, and for its secular religious studies courses. The school served students from all over the world, and especially homeschoolers.
Academics
Starting in 2015, the curriculum is titled "World Civilizations" and is composed of 3 years of study (9 semesters of 14 weeks). The curriculum requires students to take a workshop in Critical Thinking, introductory classes in religion and social sciences, a reading workshop in social inequalities, and a foreign language class before joining the full programme. After completing the preparatory semester, the students move to the next phase: the Combined Core Programme in World Civilizations.
The new core programme includes 108 semester hours taken over 2 years (16 semester hours per semester).
Disabilities office
Harari College Worldwide launched in February 2013 a centre to make their entire course catalog accessible for various types of disabilities, ranging from audio disabilities to autism. In June 2014, they are expected to submit autistic, blind and deaf students to the Israeli Bagrut exam.
Beyond the Screen
In 2014, the students and staff of Harari College Worldwide met in Berlin for a 7-day seminar of travel and intensive studies. The students arrived from all over the world to meet the people that they are spending a lot of time studying with, but had never met them in person. The seminar was a success, thus became a Harari tradition. In 2015, the seminar was planned to take place in Madrid, but was canceled in favor of a trip around Eastern Europe in 2016, although this remains unconfirmed.
