Hardgroove is a sub-genre of techno music characterised by 130-140bpm looped samples of rolling, bouncing percussive elements[1]. Hardgroove emerged out of a fusion of both Detroit Techno and the percussive elements of Chicago House, Caribbean, and Latin music with the 1996 mixtape by Ben Sims, Hard Groove Trax[2].
The name "hardgroove" was a rejection of the term "funky techno" by Sims[2] and is today being produced by artists such as Regal68[3], Elisa Bee
