HarinarayanaChari Mishra is a Madhya Pradesh Cadre, 2003 batch IPS officer.[1] He graduated from BHU, Varanasi. He worked as a Deputy inspector general of police (DIG), Indore.He is currently posted as Deputy inspector general of police (DIG),PHQ Bhopal .[2] Earlier, he served as the Superintendent of Police, Gwalior, Jabalpur,[3] Balaghat, Khandwa,[4] ASP Indore, SDOP Mhow and ADC to Governor of Madhya Pradesh. During his tenure as SP Balaghat, he effectively dealt with the problem of Naxal extremism.[5] In the operation, a large number of extremists were arrested and the situation was brought under control.[6] As S.P. Khandwa, he conceptualized the formation of the village protection committee. He is known for his contribution to social awareness against suicide.[7] He has conceptualized the SANJIVANI, a platform to help the depressed people. SANJIVANI is quite popular among Madhya Pradesh to stop the suicide cases. Once in Indore, mission CHAKRAVYUHA was undertaken by him which resulted in capture of more than 150 antisocial elements in a single night. It was a historic occasion which set a prime example for the law and order that has been a trademark of Indore. He also solved many blind murdered cases within different capacities.[8]
He is the recipient of Durgam Seva Padak, 2010, awarded for his work in Naxal affected area and Antarik Surakhsha Padak, 2010, for counter-insurgency operation by the government of Madhya Pradesh.[9][not in citation given] DIG Mishra’s name is recorded in the Limca Book of Records[10] for administering an oath to over one lakh people to follow traffic rules in Gwalior when he was SP there.
