Harjeet Singh, is currently one of the renowned leaders of Aam Aadmi party who is contesting elections from Rajouri Garden Constituency.
Early Life and Career[edit]
Harjeet Singh was born in a lower middle class family. His father (Kartar Singh) owned a printing business and his mother (Jaswant Kaur) was a homemaker. He did his schooling from Delhi and completed his graduation from Delhi University. His career began at the age of 22, when he started a transport business. However, due to the sudden outbreak of Anti-Sikh riots in 1984, the business faced loses and it had to be shut down. Subsequent to this, he started working as a Corporate Executive. Over the course of 25 years, he worked with various enterprises for instance:- Eureka Forbes: - After closing his transport business, he joined Eureka Forbes. This marked as his first organization in the onset of his corporate career. Titan Industries: - After working with Eureka Forbes for a long period, he joined Titan Industries in the year 1987. Here he worked as part of the team which established the Retail Network of Titan Industries in North India. Swatch Group|Swatch Group (Switzerland): - Next, he joined Swatch Group in the year 1996 where primarily he worked as a consultant and was the first employee of this organization. After working for a longer period here he established his reputation and was the Deputy General Manager for India Region when he decided to move onto his next venture. Louis Vuitton (France): - Lastly, he joined Louis Vuitton which is the largest fashion house in the world. Louis Vuitton is among one of the most popular French luxury brand. Harjeet Singh joined this organization in 2002. Here he was primarily responsible for the Watch and Jewellery segment which includes renowned brands such as TAG Heuer and Christian Dior. Here he was the regional director for LVMH Watch and Jewellery in South Asia when he decided to quit.
Political Life[edit]
In the year 2012, he got associated with the Anna Hazare, Jan Lokpal movement and the Aam Aadmi Party as a social worker. At the said time, he first met Arvind Kejriwal. At the said time, Arvind Kejriwal was working towards building his Aam Aadmi Party. Feeling for the cause, Harjeet Singh donated his house (41, Hanuman Road) as the Party Office for a mere Re 1 / month. Ever since, he has been closely associated with Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party working in various capacities as a Party Worker. Until now, he has played an imperative role in the development works carried out in Tilak Nagar and Hari Nagar Vidhan Sabhas.
Philanthropist[edit]
He has been a fervent social worker throughout his life and has always worked towards improvements of Health and Education. His ambition in life is to upbring the society by helping the needy and deprived. He has consistently devoted 1/10th of his earning for the betterment of the poor. Until now, he was serving as a Chairman of Rajdhani college during this time he played an essential role in improving the amenities accessible to students and teachers at the college. During all this while, Harjeet Singh has remained a devout Sikh, having complete faith in Sikhism which puts humanity first and foremost. He spends his weekends at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib and has been a “Sevadaar” at the Langar Hall for over 40 years now.
