Haruna Ono born August 10, 1988 in Aichi Prefecture, also known by her stage name HARUNA, is a Japanese rock musician. She is the leader singer and rhythm guitarist for Scandal.
Early Life[edit]
Haruna was born in the Aichi Prefecture on August 10, 1988. At the age of 3, Haruna became interested in music and developed a strong passion for dance. She held a passion for dance and dreamed of becoming a dancer. At the age of 17, Haruna was picked to star in the Japanese movie BACKDANCERS as "Mika". She was a member of the group "Super Tigers", a fictional dance group created for the movie lead by singer Mayu.
In 2006, the dance school she attended held auditions to form a girl band. She was recommended to the auditions by her teacher. At this audition, Haruna met her current bandmates of Scandal, changing her dream of becoming a dancer to follow the path of rock and roll. The influence of dance has stayed, however, and remains something Haruna is passionate about. This is why many of SCANDAL's performances and music videos contain some choreography.
Despite Haruna's fierce and dominant personality on stage, Haruna is really a very shy and quiet person who prefers to often keep to herself. She can seem cold and distant to fans at first glance but is actually very friendly and thankful towards her fans and SCANDAL's fans. Haruna is also the eldest of the band and serves as the leader of SCANDAL.
Career[edit]
As a teenager, Haruna enrolled at Caless, a vocal and dance school in Osaka, where she and her future band mates met. Haruna truly began her career at the age of 17 when she was chosen to appear in the Japanese movie BACKDANCERS as background character "Mika". She participated in the fictional group Super Tigers and continued pursuing her dance career even after filming was finished.
Soon after she participated in BACKDANCERS, Haruna attended a university her vocal and dance school was having in search of a girl band to present to Kitty Records. Haruna was chosen to become a member of the band, being placed as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist. This is where Haruna met her current band mates and chose to leave the path of being a dancer for the path of rock and roll.
In December of 2013, it was announced that Haruna would take part in the live action play of "Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu Dai 4 Shou Kouhen Gekitotsu" ("Legend of the Galactic Heroes Chapter IV - Clash"). She performed as the young boy Emil von Selle and participated in the play's entire duration from February 12, 2014 to March 2, 2014. SCANDAL was placed on a small break at the time.
In March of 2015, it was announced that Haruna would participate in FM802's ACCESS Campaign song. This event is an annual one held each year in the spring season by FM802. Haruna participated in a special unit called "Sugar & The Radio Fire" to help add vocals to the song "Music Train ~Haru no Majutsushi~" (Music Train ~Spring Magician~).
