Smith grew up in England and studied at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. Since 2013, she has been at the University of Oxford and is a postdoctoral researcher. [2] [3]
In 2017, Smith joined The Chase as a contestant, where she obtained £9000 in the ‘cash builder’ round. Later on in the game her teammates took minus offers from ”chaser” of the episode, Paul Sinha, resulting in Smith’s total winnings to be far lower than what she had scored in the first round. [4] This caused outrage from viewers, and a GoFundMe campaign was set up to compensate for Smith’s losses. Smith’s requested for all money to be donated to charity.
In April 2020, Smith was announced as the sixth “chaser” on The Chase, alongside Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha and Jenny Ryan. [5] [6]
Smith was born in London, England on 27 February 1993 and is currently living in Leicestershire, England.
Smith is also a trained opera singer where she is nicknamed the "Queen Of Opera".
