Heidi Harman

She is the founder of Geek Girl Meetup, a global network for women and girls interested in technology, design, and startups. She is also a board member and technical investment advisor at Athanase Innovation, a venture capital firm that focuses on SaaS, RaaS, AI, fintech, and deep tech. She has co-founded and worked with several startups, such as Lookback, Scrive, and Layout Easy.
Early life and education[edit]
Heidi Harman was born and raised in Sweden. She studied creative business design at the Kaospilots, a school for entrepreneurship and social innovation in Denmark. She also studied programming and development at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm. She started her career as a technical project manager and interaction designer at various digital agencies, such as Bleed, Bazooka, LBI, and SSE Exec Education.
Career[edit]
In 2008, Harman co-founded RunAlong, a social network for runners, which was acquired by Schibsted in 2011. She also became an owner of Scrive, an electronic signature service, which was sold to Telia in 2011. In the same year, she launched Geek Girl Meetup, a network for and by women and girls who are passionate about technology, design, and startups. The network aims to create a platform for female role models in the industry, as well as a space for knowledge exchange, mentoring, and fun. Geek Girl Meetup organizes monthly breakfast meetups and an annual conference, where participants can share their experiences and learn from each other. The network has since expanded to 17 countries, including Denmark, Mexico, Honduras, Hong Kong, Singapore, and San Francisco.
In 2014, Harman moved to San Francisco and joined Lookback, a UX research software company, as the director of UX research. She worked with clients such as Facebook, Google, and eBay, and helped them to conduct user testing and feedback sessions. She left Lookback in 2016 and returned to Sweden, where she became involved in various tech projects and initiatives. She is currently a board member and technical investment advisor at Athanase Innovation, a venture capital firm that invests in SaaS, RaaS, AI, fintech, and deep tech startups. She is also a board member at ProgressData, a SaaS company that measures diversity, inclusion, and intersectionality data in a research-based manner. She is also the founder and CEO of Oliak, a company that develops digital products and services. She is also an investor in Layout Easy, a SaaS company that simplifies the creation of layouts and graphics.
Harman is also a podcaster, speaker, and mentor. She hosts the podcast "HOW - the pod", where she interviews change-makers in tech and society. She has spoken at several events and conferences, such as TEDxYouth, Spotify, General Assembly, and Stockholm School of Economics Executive Education. She is also an ILVP Alumni, a US State Department program for international women in STEM. She has been awarded as an "Innovative and Trailblazing Role Model of the Decade" by the Women's Economic Forum.
