Heidi Lisset Rojas (born 26 June, 1986) is an American songwriter, singer, and coach based in Los Angeles.[1] Rojas' writing credits include the UK Number 1 singles "Crazy Stupid Love" performed by Cheryl Cole feat. Tinie Tempah,[2] and "Wings" performed by Little Mix.[3] She co-wrote a song for Pitch Perfect 3 titled "Tribe".[4] Rojas performs original compositions on her self-titled EP (2010) and features on songs including "Shadows of Love" performed by Sam Feldt.[5] Rojas works as a vocal, songwriting, and performance coach with students including Madison Taylor Baez who plays young Selena on Selena: The Series.[1][6]
Personal life
Heidi was raised in Chicago, IL by a Cuban father and a Guatemalan mother in a religiously Christian household.[1] From an early age she recorded songs in a Christian Music style and later toured the American Midwest as an independent pop artist.[7]
Heidi graduated from Baylor University in 2008 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Marketing for Music & Entertainment.[8][1][7] Upon completion of her studies she moved to Nashville, TN to pursue a professional career in the music industry at Warner Bros. Records/Word Entertainment. Soon after, she left Nashville to pursue an artist and songwriting career in Los Angeles[1]
Heidi is wife to music publisher Casey Robison, former co-president of Big Deal Music, now publisher at Hipgnosis Songs.[9]
Musical Career
Heidi released her self-titled EP in 2010. On which she collaborated with Grammy Award winning Jonny Lang, guitarist Tyler Bryant, producer, and DJ Seth Jones.
Heidi is credited as a songwriter on collaborations, in both English and Latin markets, with artists including Pitbull,[10] Little Mix,[3] Allen Stone,[11] Cheryl,[2] Jojo,[12] All-4-One,[13] Girls' Generation,[14] Sam Feldt,[5] Headhunterz,[15] and Dove Cameron.[16]
Entertainment Industry Career
After graduating Baylor University Heidi moved to Nashville, TN to pursue a professional career in the music industry. Heidi took a position at Warner Bros. Records/Word Entertainment in Nashville, TN in 2008. She left her role as a Merchandising & Branding Sales Coordinator the following year to pursue an artist and songwriting career.[1][7]
In the 2010s Rojas worked as a vocal, songwriting, and performance coach working with artists, in English and Spanish, to develop their voice, songwriting, live, and studio performance abilities.[7] Notable students include Madison Taylor Baez, known as "Anthem Girl", and who plays young Selena in the Netflix series Selena: The Series.[6][17]
Working with Los Angeles-based project of Community Partners WriteGirl, Rojas has worked "to help teen girls who come from disadvantaged backgrounds and underserved communities find their voices".[18]
Alongside partner Lauren Christy, Rojas is involved in developing new artists with the stated aim of "helping talented artists from the songwriting process to releasing their music commercially and introducing them to record labels".[7] In 2021 this partnership lead to signing Australian artist Tassia Zappia and release of her first single "You Don’t Want Me" via Republic Records on April 2, 2021.[19]
