Daniel McElmurray, better known by his stage name DSKO, is an American DJ and Electronic Music Producer from Los Angeles, CA. He is most notable for his 2015 single "Deja Vu," co-written and co-produced with Cheat Codes (DJs) member Trevor Dahl. DSKO then gained international exposure after United Kingdom-based Deep House DJ, Hambleton, released the "Deja Vu - Hambleton Remix" on December 1, 2015.
Background
McElmurray began his music career in early 2009 as the bassist and back-up vocalist for the Pop-Punk/Rock band Simple As Surgery[2] based out of Atlanta, Ga. On September 9, 2010, Simple As Surgery[3] released their single "The Best Part of Me (ft. Consio)"[4] which gave them international recognition. In October 2011, Simple As Surgery signed to Twilight Records Japan and released their debut LP "Risky Business"[5] on February 12, 2012. McElmurray left Simple As Surgery in late 2014. On April 4, 2015, McElmurray graduated from the Medical College of Georgia with a Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear Medicine. He then moved to Los Angeles, CA in May 2015.
History
2014-2015: Formation and debut singles
McElmurray began producing trap and EDM artists in late 2014. After moving to Los Angeles, CA in 2015, McElmurray decided to release music of his own and quickly became known as DSKO.[6] On October 7, 2015, DSKO released his first single "Get Down"[7] with vocalist Carter Matthews, which reached the top 10 on the Hype Machine charts and was featured on Spotify's Weekend Buzz Playlist. It was followed by the release of the single "Deja Vu" alongside the "Deja Vu (Hambleton Remix)" on December 1, 2015.[8]
2016-Present
On March 4, 2016, DSKO released "Catapult," which also appears on the Hype Machine charts as well as being featured on MostAddictive.net.[9]
