Heihei wa'a

Heihei wa'a translates to "Canoe race" in the Hawaiian language. It refers to the traditional Hawaiian sport of outrigger canoe racing, which is also the namesake of the Hui Heihei Wa'a Outrigger Canoe Club based in Silverdale, Washington, and a popular children's song from the album Aloha, This Is Who We Are.

Historically, hei hei wa'a was a major pastime for Hawaiian chiefs, who would use outrigger canoes for sport and often place bets on the races. Outrigger canoes have deep roots in Polynesian culture and required incredible manpower and craftsmanship to build.
