The Hell Chess Festival is an international cinema event organised by Jorge Jesús Blanco Guntiñas and the From the ruin to Paradise society in Spain. Hell Chess is a film of less than 30 minutes, an innovative film with a mystical and social denouncing by the same director of this Festival and gives its name to the event. In July 6, 2016 the event was celebrated at Centro Cultural Pilar Miró in Madrid and the winners of the Festival were the french short film Carpe Diem by Grégoire Von Rakowski a work about loneliness and Exit a mental odyssey by the experimental filmmaker David King. The 2017 edition lasted three months and got venues in different places of the world and finished the March 3 in Madrid at the same theatre of 2016. This time the north american spiritual film Girl Indigo by Shihyun Wang won the Hell Chess silver Trophy.

Other awards in 2017: Sve najbolje by Snježana Tribuson won the Best direction. Nomeolvides by Miguel Berzal won the Best Screenplay. Expunged From the Colective Memory by David King won the best music and the best edition. Knocked down by Pepe Gómez won one Honorable Mention for his animation short film. And the spanish actress Lola Manzano won the best acting performance for the short film Oltre la finestra by Francesco Testi.[1] At this event there is no different categories between short films and feature films, or between female or male performances.
