Henry Canning
Henry Canning (born 8 July 1774 — died 3 February 1841, Hamburg, Germany) was appointed HM Consul General in Hamburg (including also consular responsibilities in respect of Bremen) on 29 November 1823.
He married Mary Preyer (or Prior); they had a daughter, Mary Therese, who married Heinrich Friedrich, Edler Herr von Paepcke and is an ancestor of Princess Laetitia Johanna von Hesse, née Bechtolf, wife of Prince Philipp of Hesse. Henry Canning was a first cousin of George Canning (1770–1827) and the brother of diplomat Stratford Canning (1786–1880).
