• Roderick Gemmell OBE (19 August 1950 – 28 January 2020)[1] is a British former diplomat[2] who was High Commissioner to the Bahamas from 2003 [3] to 2005.[4]
Early life
Gemmell was educated at Craigbank Secondary School and joined the Post Office Savings Bank on leaving school.
Career
Gemmell entered the FCO in 1967. He served in Bahrain, Washington DC, The Hague, Mbabane and Stockholm before becoming Second Secretary in Ankara. He was First Secretary at Kampala from 1994 to 1997; and Director of Entry Clearance at Lagos from 1998 until his appointment in the Bahamas.[5]
