Henry Childs II is an American attorney, financier, and government official who served as the 17th National Director of the Minority Business Development Agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce from 2018-2020.[1]

Childs earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Management in 2001 from the University of Maryland University College. He earned a Juris Doctorate from Saint Louis University School of Law in 2004.[2]

Henry Childs II served as the 17th National Director of the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce from 2018-2020. During his tenure, Childs focused on helping minority-owned businesses adapt to three key areas of global business competitiveness: digital transformation, globalization, and U.S. demographic change.[3]

Prior to his appointment as MBDA Director, Childs served in the U.S. Department of Commerce from 2017-2018. During that time, he was the U.S. Delegate to the OECD working party on small-and-medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurship.

Minority Business Finance[edit]

Henry Childs II is the Founder and CEO of the Minority Wealth Commission, a social impact investment initiative.[4] Childs' Minority Wealth Commission is aimed at investing in the $3.9 trillion U.S. minority economy,[5] reducing the racial wealth divide, and creating sustainable paths to generational wealth for minority communities.
