The Heritage Collections Council (HCC) was a program created to enable collaboration between Australian governments and the Australian museums sector. The Council's primary aim was to improve access to Australian museum collections including art museums, natural science museums, archives, historic shipwreck relics and Aboriginal keeping places.[1]

The HCC had representatives from State and Territory Governments and the Commonwealth Government, museum directors and collection specialists, and from Museums Australia.[1] The Heritage Collections Council (HCC) was established on 17 December 1996.[2]
