HiPipo Music Awards (HMA) celebrates and promotes music, musicians and artistic excellence in Africa.[1] Organized by Hipipo. First “HiPipo Charts Festival”, aka First HiPipo Music Awards, was held in - 2012. The second edition of HiPiPo Music awards (HMA) was held on February 9, 2013.[2]
The second annual HiPipo Music Awards took place on October 14, 2013 and culminated with a gala night at Wonder World (formerly Didi's World) auditorium in Kansanga.[3] HiPipo Music Awards event is held annually between January and February.
Eligibility[edit]
To be considered, an artist must have released music content within 12 months prior to October of any year.
Nomination[edit]
Each category has five or six nominees.[4] The nominees come from different nominating stakeholders including musicians, video/audio producers, songwriters, media personalities (radio, TV, and print), and the general public.[5]
Voting[edit]
Once nominations are complete, the public votes via text (SMS) and Facebook through the official HiPipo Music Awards (HMA) platform.
