Hideaki Nishino (西野 秀明 Nishino Hideaki) is the senior vice president of Platform Experience at Sony Interactive Entertainment.[1][2]
Biography[edit]
Hideaki Nishino attended Keio University and graduated in 2000.[2] He joined Sony Corporation in April 2000.[2][3] He was a producer at Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications from September 2001 till December 2003.[2] Manager at FeliCa Networks from Dec 2003 - Dec 2005.[2] He became a manager at Sony Computer Entertainment from Jan 2006 - Aug 2009.[2] At Sony Network Entertainment he was a Director (Sep 2009 - Dec 2011) and Senior Director (Dec 2011 - Sep 2012) in San Francisco, Deputy General Manager (Aug 2012 - Apr 2013) at Sony Corporation, Vice President at SCE (Apr 2013 - Apr 2016) and Senior Vice President, Global Product Strategy and Management at Sony interactive entertainment (Apr 2016 - Present).[2]
PlayStation[edit]
Nishino has been instrumental in many product development innovations of the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.[3] As of March 2021, he oversees Network Engineering and Operations, R&D, Design, Data Strategy and Operations and manages Product and Platform development.[3] On March 18, 2020, Nishino unveiled information about the PS5 hardware technical specs on the Playstation Blog.[4] According to Nishino, the Playstation 5 is designed to be backward compatible with more than "99 percent" of PS4's 4,000+ game library, playable at launch.[5] On September 22, 2021, Nishino shared information about new PS5 features such as 3D audio through built-in TV speakers, M.2 SSD storage, PS app updates such as Share Screen and the trophy tracker.[1]
