HipHopZa is a South African music download website.[2] Launched in 18th April 2017 with the aim of Pushing South African Hip Hop globally. They pride their establishment as the number one source for the South African music entertainment website focusing majorly on the Emerging genre, Amapiano.[3]
History[edit]
The name HipHopZa is coined from two words, Hip Hop and Za with the later being the country TLD for South Africa. HipHopZa was started as a Facebook Page named SA Hip Hop University by Sinalo in 2015. It evolved into a music website after numerous requests from people to have a website for the Facebook page.
Overview[edit]
HipHopZa in their Four year stint has evolved to be a household name in the Amapiano Industry and South African Music as a whole Boasting of over 500 thousand visitors daily. With their stylized top 20 Amapiano Song charts which is a countdown of hot Amapiano songs.[4] The chart is put together by the Hiphopza team after much research and deliberation. HipHopZa was voted the third "Best South African Music Blog" at the SA Blog Awards in 2018. HipHopZa also publishes editorial content including profiles of artistes, their materials (music and videos), and critical music reviews.[5]
HipHopZa Upload[edit]
HipHopZa Upload is a branch of Hiphopza.com website which caters specifically for up and coming artists in the South African Music industry where they can sign up and upload their music for free.[6]
