The Hirasugar Institute of Technology (HSIT) is an engineering college in Nidasoshi, Taluk Hukkeri, Belgaum, India. Established in 1996, it is one of the institutes under the banner of Shri Jagadguru Pancham Nijalingeshwar (SJPN) Trust.[9][10] HSIT is approved by the AICTE, Accredited at "A" Grade by NAAC [2] and recognized by University Grant Commission[11] of India. HSIT is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum for its BE, and M.Tech courses.
The Institute has eight academic departments.[12][13][14][15][16]

The department offers undergraduate course with an intake of 60 students.[5][6]
- Course offered: Bachelor of Engineering.
Various activities are conducted under the Association of Electrical and Electronics Engg.[13] The Department is having an Association of Staff & Students i.e. EESSA (Electrical & Electronics Staff & Students Association). The association was formed in the year 1999. The Association conducts many more activities like paper presentation, quiz, trouble shooting competition, and under EESSA, Department magazine and news letters are released regularly.[13]

The department offers undergraduate course with an intake of 120 students,[5][6] a Postgraduate ( M.Tech ) course in Thermal engineering with an intake of 18 students[8] and Mechanical Department has been approved as a Research Centre by Visvesvariah Technological University, Belgaum to offer Ph. D programs in the year 2014.[19]

An association of Mechanical Engineering students and staff has been constituted in the department named AIMSS and is involved in arranging expert lectures, co-curricular and extracurricular activities. The department of Mechanical Engineering has MOUs with 15 industries of Karnataka & Maharashtra states. The department has professional body membership with ISTE and arranges the activities under the banner of ISTE.[19] [20] [21][22][23][24]

Library[edit]
Library has about 25,000 volumes covering all the four branches of engineering. About 80 National and International Technical Journals and periodicals are subscribed. In-house functions like acquisition, cataloging and circulation are automated with the KOHA (Integrated Library Management) Software. The Library is also a member of DELNET.[26][27]
Hostel[edit]
The Institute provides separate hostel facility for boys and girls. Both boys (Capacity - 670) and girls (Capacity - 270) hostels are located within the Campus along with live-in designated Hostel Wardens.[26]
Sports & Cultural Activities[edit]
The Institute has cricket and volleyball playgrounds along with athletic tracks, and indoor games like carrom, chess and table-tennis.[26]
Transportation Services[edit]
The institute has a fleet of vehicles plying between Sankeshwar, a town at a distance of 7 km, and the Campus.[26]
