History of rugby union matches between Ireland and Romania
Ireland and Romania first played each other at rugby union in 1986 when Ireland won 60-0 at their home ground, Lansdowne Road, in Dublin.[1]. They have played each other nine times, six times in Ireland and once in Romania. The other matches were at a neutral venue in Australia in the 2003 Rugby World Cup, and in England at the 2015 Rugby World Cup. Ireland have won all of the matches between the sides to date[2]. Romanian rugby was its peak in the 1980s, and they held a strong Ireland XV side to a 13-13 draw in Lansdowne Road in 1980, in a match Ireland did not award caps [3]
