Hit Point Press is a Canadian indie publisher of tabletop role-playing games, supplements, and accessories, including original games, miniatures, reference card decks, and third party content for Dungeons & Dragons. It was founded by Ricardo Evangelho.[1] Hit Point Press products have won and been nominated for multiple ENNIE Awards[2][3][4] and Indie Game Developer Network Awards.[5]
Business History[edit]
Canadian Business attributed Hit Point Press' business success as a new startup to Evangelho's use of Kickstarter for product pre-sales. Hit Point Press ranked number 29 on Canadian Business' 2020 startup growth list.[1] Ottawa Business Journal named Evangelho one of Ottawa's 2020 "Forty Under Forty" for his success in growing Hit Point Press from one employee to a fully-staffed, multimillion-dollar company within five years.[6]
Reception[edit]
Rob Wieland for Forbes recommended Hit Point Press' Humblewood campaign setting for introducing kids to role-playing games, especially praising its one-page summaries, animal art, and maps.[7] Scholar João Victor Bedutti analyzed how Hit Point Press uses Brazilian mythological motifs in Deck of Many.[8]
