Hlahlindlela High School
Hlahlindlela High School is a public, English medium high school located in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, in the area called KwaNgcolosi near Hillcrest.
History
Hlahlindlela High School opened its doors for the first time on 20 January 1973 with an enrollment of 253 learners and a staff of 10. The school was officially opened in October 1976. The school's first principal was Mr Ndlela, and the title of the school is derived from his surname, implying "pave the way" from isiZulu to English. Mr Ndlela served the school for 15 years until his passing. Mr Ndlela was succeeded by Mr Motaung. Mr B Masango is the current school principal.
Sport
The school offers numerous sports, most of which are played against other schools in high-level associations.
The sporting activities available are soccer, netball, and cricket.
Arts and Culture
The school learners also participate in yearly traditional Zulu music such as Isicathamiya and Indlamu.[1], [2]. The school's participation was featured in the South African newspaper[3]. The school was also used in a research study by the University of UKZN on socio-cultural construction.[4]
